When it comes to designing a luxury kitchen, most homeowners focus on countertops, cabinets, and appliances—and rightfully so. But if there’s one aspect of kitchen design that’s too often overlooked, it’s intelligent storage. I’ve seen it again and again: clients fall in love with the look of a kitchen, only to realize later that it doesn’t work as efficiently as it should.
That’s where smart storage solutions come in. Things like pull-out drawers, rotating corner systems, and adjustable trays can turn an ordinary kitchen into a daily experience of ease and satisfaction. These solutions are about more than just convenience. They enhance the way you move, prep, cook, clean, and organize.
Let’s walk through a few of my favorite storage features — the ones my clients often didn’t know they needed until they started using them.
Pull-out systems are one of the smartest ways to maximize narrow, often wasted spaces like the gaps beside your stove or between appliances. Instead of losing these inches to fillers or dead space, I design them with full-extension pull-outs that glide open to reveal neatly organized spices, utensils, or oils.
Slim, vertical drawers can hold dozens of spice jars. Easy to see, easy to grab, and hidden when not in use.
Under the sink, I install pull-outs that hold spray bottles upright and provide compartments for cloths and gloves. No more bending and digging through a cluttered cabinet.
Pull-out bins keep garbage out of sight and odor contained, with dual compartments for waste and recycling. A soft-close mechanism ensures clean operation and prevents wear over time.
These are perfect for sheet pans, cooling racks, or large cutting boards, stored vertically for easy reach. They typically fit well in otherwise unusable cabinet slivers.
Traditional pantries often hide items behind other items. That’s why I favor deep pull-out drawers that let you access everything front to back without shifting boxes or bending over. These drawers create visual order and help minimize food waste.
These drawers glide all the way out, making every can, bottle, or jar visible. You’ll actually use what you buy, and it’s easier to organize by category.
Custom dividers keep baking supplies, snacks, and cereals sorted. No more chaos in the back of the shelf.
I customize the drawer sizes based on what you store most. Pasta, bottles, or bulk dry goods — everything has a home.
In my Nesconset kitchen remodel, we included a full pantry wall with roll-out drawers, giving the homeowners easy visibility and flexible storage in a sleek, integrated unit.
If you’ve ever cursed a deep blind corner cabinet, you’re not alone. The solution is a professionally installed lazy Susan or rotating shelf system that brings everything to you.
Forget about getting on your knees to reach the back. A well-designed lazy Susan rotates with ease, keeping pots, pans, and even small appliances within reach.
These fit neatly into the corner and rotate fully, maximizing difficult spaces without sacrificing access.
Today’s systems are far more advanced than the old squeaky plastic spinners. I only use hardware that feels high-end and moves silently.
In the Port Washington project, we integrated a blind corner pull-out system that gave the client access to every inch of cabinet space without clunky doors or dead zones.
Base cabinets can be some of the hardest to navigate, but not when they’re outfitted with roll-out trays. Instead of losing items in the back, you can bring everything to the front with a gentle pull.
Deep roll-out trays hold heavy cookware, neatly stacked and easy to lift. They prevent stacking mishaps and make heavy-lifting safer.
Vertical dividers in roll-outs allow upright storage for baking sheets and boards. No more stacking and shuffling.
In many projects, I install two-tier trays that double your usable space in tall base cabinets.
I often recommend slim compartments in base cabinets specifically for pot lids, charcuterie boards, and serving platters.
Open counters can look clean, but where do the toasters, blenders, and mixers go? That’s where appliance garages shine. These hidden zones keep your counters clear but make your daily tools instantly accessible.
These open vertically or roll up smoothly to reveal tucked-away appliances.
No need to drag cords. Your devices stay plugged in and ready to use.
In the Upper Brookville kitchen, we designed a breakfast station with hidden storage and a coffee garage that opens directly onto the prep zone.
This spot is notorious for being messy. That’s why I design tiered drawers, pull-out bins, and custom racks that make the most of the plumbing-adjacent real estate.
These drawers work around the plumbing to give you access to both sides.
Perfect for soaps, brushes, and backups. Everything stays organized and in reach.
Ideal for dish towels and reusable cleaning cloths that would otherwise clutter your counters.
Beyond major storage zones, the little touches matter. A luxury kitchen should feel effortless — right down to where you store your cutlery or spices.
These keep tools safe, visible, and easy to access while prepping.
Angled, tiered trays display your spices clearly so you’re never digging.
I often build hidden outlets inside shallow drawers for phones, tablets, and headphones. This keeps cords out of sight and devices organized.
You can have the most beautiful kitchen in the world, but if it doesn’t function day to day, it won’t feel like luxury. What separates a high-end kitchen from a good one is how it works beneath the surface.
My job is to bring efficiency, flow, and elegance together so that your storage feels as intentional as your finishes. When form meets function, your kitchen becomes a joy to use, not just a place to cook.
These kinds of upgrades don’t just improve daily life. They increase the longevity of your kitchen, reduce clutter, and enhance resale value. Smart storage is no longer optional in a luxury kitchen. It’s the new standard.
If you're planning a kitchen remodel or just want to make your current space smarter, I’d love to help. Together, we’ll design a kitchen that’s not just beautiful but built to work for you.
